Tennis, Everyone?

After last night at Yankee Stadium, this morning we headed to Shea. We didn't make it past the parking lot, though, since we were only there to leave the car so we could go to the US Open.

The US Tennis Center is really impressive. So many courts, and so many ballboys and ballgirls. I wonder how old I have to be to apply...

I learned that the tennis balls are a lot bigger in person than they look on television.

Although he wasn't playing today, James Blake agreed to pose for a photo with us. He seems a lot flatter than I was expecting.

I didn't quite understand why tennis is such a quiet sport so I preferred the smaller courts where we could sit in the front row and heckle the unseeded players. I hope that next year I'll be able to go on daddy's shoulders instead of in the Bjorn (that will give me an even better view than the line judges).

Root, Root, Root for the Home Team?

I'm not old enough for peanuts and Cracker Jack, but my parents took me out to the ball game, anyway. We basked in parental rivalry at tonight's Yankees-Red Sox match-up (which, mommy would like me to point out, was won by the boys in pinstripes 5-3).

In preparation for the game, I was faced with a difficult dressing dilemma given the large number of Red Sox ensembles I have to choose from (none of which mommy will let me wear out in public) compared with my dearth of Yankee gear.

I tried on mommy's Yankees cap and Jeter jersey, but I have some growing to do before they'll fit.

So I thought I might need to go to the game in just a diaper, so as not to offend either parent.

Our adventure began with my first ever subway ride. We took the C to the D (some kind of alphabet thing they were trying to teach me).

Daddy didn't sport any BoSox paraphernalia, but preferred to go 'incognito' so as not to attract attention to himself.

After Derek Jeter's homerun in the bottom of the fifth inning, I got a big high five from the drunk women behind us. Speaking of bottoms, have I mentioned how nice Derek's is?

In celebration of my first Major League game, mommy bought me a Yankee cap which hopefully I can wear all through the post-season. That is, if there is a post-season here in NYC.

While the Yanks won tonight, there are still two more games in the series and 30 in the season. I think I'll hold off choosing my team until I can figure out who's on first.

Picture This...

Thank you, Aunt Julie! You took some more beautiful photos while we were in Mahopac this weekend.

Thank you, Daisy! My 'new' ExerSaucer is the most exciting toy I've ever experienced! It sings, it counts, it even teaches me shapes and colors. Plus, I can sit it in it while mommy makes dinner. I wonder what happens if I push this button....

It's a Small City After All

While I love living in a big cosmopolitan city, knowing that it has some small town charm also makes me smile.

Just when I thought I had this whole New York City thing figured out, mommy and I found a really confusing, yet oddly apropos, street sign for me (WALK, yes I'd like to, DON'T WALK, because I can't yet!)

I escorted daddy to a conference at the Javits Center. I even sat in on one of the sessions, on migranes, but it made my head hurt (tee hee hee).

We went to the Museum of Natural History with Rachel and "Aunt" Lynne and were thrilled to bump into Daisy and Oscar. We hope we'll still run into them once they move to Park Slope, especially given how happy Oscar looks surrounded by three beautiful young ladies!

Ella is our newest neighbor. Her mom Laurie used to work with mommy. At two weeks old, she has so much to learn from me about living in our building...

...for starters, Fernando is the man to know.

Mommy and I did leave town this week...we took Metro-North to visit Grandma and Grandpa in Mahopac. I would have slept right through our stop, but fortunately mommy was paying attention.

Oh, The Places I'll Go

After twelve long weeks of waiting, my passport finally arrived. I'm told I can now go anywhere and do anything, but mostly I'm disappointed that the Department of State didn't choose a tastier paper.

I know that passports are especially useful for air travel, though these days I'm starting to go the distance on the ground. I really want to crawl, but for now I'll just wiggle and kick while on my tummy and that gets me part of the way to where I want to go, though it's a bit slower and more frustrating than I would like.

Speaking of travel, getting to spend time with Aunt Abi who came all the way from San Francisco was a highlight of my weekend in Newport.

While I didn't have to go far, I almost enjoyed swimming in the big pool with mommy and daddy...

...but not as much as I enjoyed lounging by the side of the pool.

What a cute family tree (ba da bing!), no?

Before heading home, we went to a concert at the local park, where we 'rocked Newport' seaside. I loved seeing my Boston relatives.

Things Are Going Swimmingly!

Mommy and daddy had a new swimming pool installed. It's not exactly big enough for a diving board, but I prefer sitting on laps to swimming laps anyway. I was a little nervous at first...

...but it got better when I learned to splash.

I wet my head...

...and even managed an Olympic-sized smile. This swimming thing is going to be much more fun than I ever imagined.

I knew it was time to get out when my toes started to look like currants (they're too tiny to be raisins or prunes).

Back home, I spend more and more time on my tummy.

I love staring out the window of mommy and daddy's bedroom at the city below...or at least that's what they think I'm doing while I watch the Yankees game in reflection. Where's Derek Jeter? His tushie is even cuter than mine!

I also love walking around New York. This week "Aunt" Anita took me for a walk in Riverside Park. She's expecting a little friend for me in November and I can't wait to take him/her swimming next summer.

You Grow Girl!

Today I was examined by a doctor:

Not that doctor. My pediatrician - for my four-month visit. I got more shots and was incredibly brave.

My numbers are just perfect: 13 pounds 8 ounces and 24.5 inches long. Below you can see my growth since birth charted against the baby population. To enlarge (the chart, not me), click on the image.
