My Family Tree Grows in Brooklyn

Mommy and daddy took me out to visit my cousins in their new home in Brooklyn this weekend. I loved crawling on their new rug.

Oscar was excited because he thinks I'm a movie star, now that I have so many videos on my blog. I was willing to share the spotlight with him, for a price...

Now that I'm covering the floors, we also had to buy not one, but two, rugs to protect the hardwood (and my knees). While they may slow me down, they can't stop me from getting into trouble!

Speeding to a Crawl

This weekend I developed a new trick: crawling. While I still can't quite cover the room like I can by rolling, at least I can get to that toy I really want to put in my mouth.

Days of Aww...

While I understand that Yom Kippur is not the most fun day of the year (not sure why they call it a 'fast' since it seemed to go pretty slowly for mommy and daddy), it was a wonderful excuse for my grandparents to all be together doting on me. Grandma prepared a delicious dinner Friday night and a scrumptious break fast feast on Saturday. In between I spent a lot of time in synagogue. I don't know what I have to atone for in my first five months, but I'm sure there was someone I didn't smile at or that time I cried inconsolably and, for that, I am sorry.

After not eating for a day, we got off to an early start at brunch with four generations of my Boston family. Cousins Josh and Marisa (who are evidently once removed, though they're still here) are a lot of fun as are Great Aunt Marcia, Nana, and Great Uncle Roger (not pictured here).

Liana Tova

The highlight of the week was celebrating my first Jewish New Year. I'm still new at this, though, so I'm still writing 5767 on my bottles!

After the holiday was over, mommy and daddy dressed me up in my Yankees hat and took me to FanFest at Lincoln Center.

Daddy wasn't sure he wanted to go, but mommy assured him that some other guy who moved from Boston would be there:

I didn't understand why daddy was so concerned until I saw this Red Sox dunk tank. My decision about which team to root for keeps getting harder (especially since the Yankees beat the Red Sox two-out-of-three this weekend).

Not content with just sitting around, I took my first bus ride to help daddy and mommy run some errands. What a great new way to see The City.

I also spent time with Beth who was visiting from Michigan. She hasn't grown as much as I have since the last time we got together.

She took me to the Columbus Avenue Fair where I entered myself in the Baby Gap Model Search (special talents: sucking on my toes, giving kisses). It would be cool to win, but as you can see from the photo, I'm more interested in my name-tag than in the process.

Five Months Old...What a "Feet"

Actually, two feet. Mommy and daddy can't take their hands off my feet and I can't stop sucking my own little piggies, so I decided to give you a view of what all the fuss is about:

I am starting to bear weight on my feet and stand while holding on. I am so grown up now: I go to school (while mommy goes to work), roll all around and play with everything, and enjoy all the toys that mommy and daddy show me - most of which end up in my mouth.

We had an early birthday celebration with my even-older friend Rachel and her mommy and daddy. Rachel eats real food...and boy did that watermelon look good!

I'm So Engaging...

After yesterday in Westchester, we headed to New Jersey for a special occasion, cousin Josh and cousin-to-be Dana's engagement party. Of course, they found me engaging enough that they could hardly tear themselves away.

Cousin Josh is still talking about the last time he saw me (featured here), when I was wedded to the Yankee game on television - today was no exception.

My grandparents are a perfect match for me. Here my grandmothers admire my ability to stand while holding on while BoPa tells me that either I'm number one or that I shouldn't make a twosie in my onesie.

I met some new relatives, including Emma and her daddy Nick. Emma is a TV star (well, she's on CNBC for two seconds tonight)...

...and of course, I saw some familiar faces as well.

It was so nice to have my whole family together.

Peek-a-Boo BBQ

I was initially very nervous about meeting daddy's colleagues at his office's annual barbecue. Things got better when I learned how much fun these people were and I met a nice boy, Brandon, who is only a few months older than I.

While mommy and daddy took turns grilling, so many people offered to hold me...

...Michael patted my arm...

...and I had a great time playing peek-a-boo with Sophie.

If only I were old enough to eat hot dogs! However, I do have a new line on my résumé:

I Love Zoo York

Today mommy and I went to the Central Park Zoo. When we passed the Children's Zoo, I couldn't believe they kept all those little ones in cages. Reminds me of my stay in Rochester.

We arrived at feeding time. While I could have been watching the sea lions, I was more intrigued by the little boy in front of me eating Cheerios.

I wasn't really hungry, but my toes were so delicious I didn't see the polar bear behind me. Fortunately, we caught up with him down below.

The highlight of our visit was meeting a very furry friend who might go on the swings with me.

Can Mommy Come Out and Play?

Today mommy was supposed to start work, but it was delayed by a week so we got a bonus playdate with Sorin and Catharine...

...and a bonus lunch with Harriette. She calls me her cupcake, even though I am not covered in buttercream.

Speaking of going back to work, I got my first bottle from Grandpa on Labor Day. I hope he didn't have to work too hard.

New Heights...

This weekend I discovered my new favorite spot: daddy's shoulders. From up here I can see forever and I get to play with daddy's ears!

Mahopac-ked with Fun

This weekend I finally got to meet Brandi and Michael, my most avid blog readers. Better yet, they're expecting a little girlfriend for me - I can't wait until October 15th!

She will be joining my international fan club. With such a diverse group of supporters, I have had to invest in Internet tracking. (So now we know where you live!)

Brandi and Michael also brought me my newest favorite book, "New York, New York," an alphabetical guide to the Big Apple. I'm proud that I've been to 11 of the 26 sites they mention. Plaza Hotel, here I come...

No sooner was I congratulating myself on my cosmopolitanism when we left for Mahopac. While there I met a friend who is already hatched: our next-door neighbor Noah. He was visiting from Newton, MA -- I wonder if he knows my Boston grandparents.

I got to spend time with familiar faces as well, including lots of quality time with cousin Daisy.

I also discovered my new favorite teething toy.

I'm so proud of my big cousin Oscar who caught his first fish in the lake. Fortunately I'm not eating seafood yet, but he threw it back anyway.

While in Mahopac, I was thinking about (and missing) the rest of my family who were in Newport for Labor Day.

I want to show them my newest trick...sitting in a high chair (even if my first experience only lasted five minutes).
