Sun and Fun

I was lucky enough to spend this weekend getting some relaxation in Newport, RI. The weather was beautiful (70s and sunny) and so was I, here in my first bathing suit ever:


We went swimming in the pool and lounged around (waiter, may I please have a piña colada?).


We also played tennis (as usual around me, there was lots of talk about "love").


I met one of my grandparents' youngest neighbors, Scott, who is two weeks younger than I am. He seemed to be enjoying his grandmother as much as I was enjoying mine.


We had a lovely dinner at my favorite place: Chez Bouteille de Lait (aka Tucker's Bistro).


What an exhausting weekend! Mommy and I need to catch up on our beauty rest.


I had such a great time with my grandparents - I can't wait to visit them again in just three weeks!

Have Your Cake and Eat it Too!

My cousin Daisy's birthday is next week. Mommy and I got to celebrate with her at her ONE-derful party!


Uncle Spencer, Aunt Julie, Daisy, and the other guests got to enjoy pizza and delicious birthday cake at the party, but I had to wait until later in the evening to taste them.


We went out to dinner with some of daddy's colleagues and Laura fed me a delicious bottle. As a pediatrician with tons of nieces and nephews, she knows what babies like.

Pacifier Predicament

I have a fancy new pacifier clip that has introduced a dilemma: what should I call my little rubber wonder that soothes me when all else fails? I hope you can help!

Guinness Book of Liana Records

On Sunday night, I had a record-setting four babysitters (Uncle Spencer, Aunt Julie, Oscar, and Daisy). As you can see, only Oscar was necessary to meet my every need, but it was nice of the others to keep him company.


I've been told I'm very mature for my age, but this weekend I surprised even my mommy and daddy when I was able to turn on the fun mobile that Sorin loaned me without any adult help. This was especially impressive when I did it at 3am. Who needs middle-of-the-night feedings when you can have Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven?

I'm a Native New Yorker

Cousin Josh and Cousin-in-Law-to-Be Dana stopped by so Dana, a native New Yorker like me, and I could finally meet. I think she's laughing with me, not at me...


Mommy and Daddy took me two great kid destinations in Times Square: M&M World and Toys 'R Us. We saw lots of fun stuff, but too many tourists for my liking. It's like that song by Odyssey - "[I'm] a native New Yorker..."


We had brunch with Shad (a native Long Islander, which is not the same thing). It was fun because I got to enjoy a bottle courtesy of daddy while everyone else was stuck with omelettes and french toast.

So Much to Smile About (My Second Video Appearance)

Not only have my video skills improved, I'm also a much more frequent smiler these days.

It's taken me ten weeks to figure out how to post video to my blog - thank you "Uncle" Thadeous! While this clip is a bit old and long, at the end you can catch one of my first smiles. I promise to make future videos more exciting.

Corporate (Not-Such-a-) Challenge

Mommy and I did the Corporate Challenge. I looked very sportive in my College Board onesie (thank you, Connie!).


I was impressed by the turnout (especially Herb whom I understand couldn't come up with a good excuse two years in a row).

While some of the athletes stretched, I preferred a nap before the starting gun.


"Aunt" Lauren pushed me across the finish line. Don't be deceived by our time, we started at the back of the pack because I was in a stroller. I'm not so good with numbers but I think we did twenty five-minute kilometers...or maybe it was five twenty-minute ones...details, details...


Before heading to the race, I got to see more of mommy's colleagues, who held me in all sorts of ways:

Kay anticipates that I will be taller than she is, so she already started looking up at me.


Tom worked really hard to get me to smile (eventually his grins were contagious).


Gary's hands are a lot smaller than mine, but they were fun to hold.


...and Cora knew that I love looking over her shoulder, especially outside.

College Board Ladies Who Dinner

Tonight mommy and I had dinner with some of her colleagues. Mary Carroll was the hostess with the mostest in her lovely home.


Among the other charming guests were Edna, in whose company I was much happier than during our previous encounter.


Dorothy initially said I was too little to be held, but I was able to convince her that I was too cute not to be held.


Connie and I have spent a lot of time together, but this was the only rendezvous caught on camera.


While all of these women were fun, I am still happiest in my mommy's arms!

Happy Father's Day, Daddy!

What better way to celebrate Father's Day than by looking cute (here, in another photo courtesy of Aunt Julie)? I think daddy appreciated that I did this for him, and so did Uncle Spencer and Grandpa, two other fathers we saw today in Mahopac.



Uncle Spencer and Oscar (who could be a daddy someday) played basketball with daddy. Right now I'm working on a different kind of dribbling, but, since I'm pretty tall, one day I'll give these guys a run for their money.

We also spent the weekend with some other fathers. On Friday night, future father Bill (here with his wife Anita and their friend Rebecca) babysat for me so mommy and daddy could go out for dinner and a movie. I know they missed me, though, because they saw a movie about a little girl.

I played with "Uncle" Thadeous, "Aunt" Catharine, and Sorin, who, after this picture was taken, pushed me around in my dolly pram. What fun! In case there was any question, I'm wearing a shirt which states the obvious: "Kiss me--I am too cute."

Summer Social Butterfly

I visited the College Board and the weather stayed clear so I could attend my first Summer Social. While I'm too young for beer or guacamole, I met many of mommy's colleagues, including Edna and Steve. I also got to wear my second nametag!


Mommy and I took "Aunt" Lauren out to lunch to celebrate her birthday. Next year in Singapore...


Wednesday was Oscar's last day of school. Mommy and I met him, Daisy, and Aunt Julie for a celebratory playdate.


For someone who doesn't care much for bathtime, I sure have a cute towel collection!

Two Months Old and Boy Am I Bold

Today is my two-month birthday. Mommy, daddy and I went out to breakfast to celebrate before I got my presents...

...four shots and an oral vaccine. I know I'm too young for cake, but this is a little ridiculous. Here I am on my way to the doctor's office:


I weighed in at 11 pounds 2 ounces and have grown to 23 inches.


This is me after the inoculations. I was a real trooper. Hopefully for my three-month birthday the gifts will be a little less invasive!

Garden State Date

I had to spend another evening (the third one this week) without my parents (*sigh*). They went to the wedding of one of daddy's best friends from med school. They brought me this picture with Karen and Steve as proof...

I wasn't too upset, though, since, while we were in New Jersey, I could spend the evening with Great Aunt Marcia and Great Uncle Roger. We got to walk around, watch the Tony's (I love Broadway!), and hear my great grandfather's voice on a record from the 1940s. I rewarded them by only spitting up on two outfits and drinking both of my bottles. Look what great hands I'm in:

The evening went by way too quickly, and we had to return to our side of the Hudson. I had a great time in New Jersey, but there's no place like home...
