Duck à L'iana

My first Halloween was quite a busy day.

First, there was dress rehearsal and a photo shoot. It's not easy being yellow.

Then I got some coaching on quacking from Chuckie, my toy duckie...

Next, it was off to school's Halloween parade with my friends: peapod, aviator, beaver, and zebra (A to Z). I had no idea my classmates were so talented!

Where did I get my webbed feet, if not from grandpa? Sure makes it easier to stand up.

Finally home for some delicious chocolate treats (the trick is, I can't eat them for 5 1/2 more months).

Daddy Wins the World Series!!

I just want to congratulate daddy and all his fellow Sox fans (including you, Beckett) on the four-game sweep. While I'm not a fan yet, they are the only World Series Champions I've known! I'm even wearing my red socks in their honor!

Sitting Pretty (Ahem, Beautiful!)

These days I can't take life in lying down. I need to sit up for myself.

While I'm used to people tickling me, this afternoon, BoMa, my cousins and I were tickling the ivories.

Charlotte is especially talented and if I start practicing soon, maybe I can play as well as she does.

Mommy and daddy forgot our camera for the first, but probably not the last, time ever at dinner tonight. We managed to capture the blog-worthy moment of my first high chair in a restaurant thanks to 'Uncle' Jamie's cell phone.

Happy Birthday, BoMa

Today is BoMa (and Great Uncle Roger's) birthday. You know, for twins, they don't look very much alike...
I'm sorry I can't be with her to celebrate today. I have to go to school, after all. But I hope to see her very soon.

One Happy Parent

I don't know what the big deal is about the World Cereal, but I'm ready...

Not sure which team I'll root for in the future, but having the Yankees eliminated early makes it easier.

Milk It For All It's Worth

Now that I've mastered drinking from a bottle (unassisted), I am moving on to a host of solids: peas, winter squash, and avocado. Next stops: zucchini and sweet potatoes.

All that food is giving me muscles and energy for crawling into all sorts of trouble.

Speaking of food, if daddy isn't careful he may see the full menu again!

It's Not Easy Eating Green (Peas)

"Aunt" Melissa and "Uncle" Dave came for a visit all the way from San Francisco. Unfortunately, they left (one of my) boyfriends at home. He and I would have had a lovely date: lunch out, followed by a concert in Central Park - but it was nice just with our parents as well.

After that, I needed to fuel up. Why not peas? I'm not sure mommy and daddy agree, but I think transdermal absorption is the best way to to get the vitamins into my system.

With my newfound strength, I spent some time with my Boston family, who were in for the weekend. After the visitors all left, we headed to Columbia for the Great Children's Read.
While it wasn't my first time on a college campus (after all, I was at Harvard last weekend), it was nice to check out Columbia. I got a great view from my high perch.

I met this monkey guy. I couldn't quite tell if he was Curious George or not, but I was a little star-struck anyway.

The highlight was seeing one of my favorite TV stars, Mariska Hargitay of Law and Order: SVU, reading from "Ruby Lu, Empress of Everything." Here's a shot of her introduction, in case you can't see her behind me in the other picture.

Six of One, 1/2 Dozen of the Other (Months, That Is)

Today I became a six month old. BoMa and BoPa sent me a beautiful bouquet of roses to celebrate. The cellophane was especially tasty.

Speaking of delicious, I celebrated with my favorite breakfast (rice cereal) and inaugural favorite dinner (peas). I also tried a new beverage: water from a sippy cup. What, do mommy and daddy think I'm going to spill?

I'm still not very good at blowing out the candle, but it was still fun to hear mommy and daddy sing to me. Can't wait to see what happens when I turn six more months.

My Almost But Not-Quite Pre-Half-Birthday Celebration

I wanted to make sure I was fully vaccinated before I turn six months tomorrow, so we headed over to Dr. Y's for a little syringe binge. I upped my weight to 15 pounds and 5 ounces and s t r e t c h e d out to 26.5 inches. I'm loving his new fishy décor.

We celebrated my new immunity and anticipated my birthday with the Brooklyn cousins and my New York grandparents. Oscar stayed after baseball class to have dinner with me.

I'm still working on my eating, but Daisy is perfecting her toasting. ¡Besos y pesos!

I fell asleep just in time for the check...but it's my almost but not-quite pre-half-birthday, so someone else should really treat me.

Cereal Killer (or Killer Cereal)

On the drive back from Boston, in honor of Columbus Day, I discovered a new world: I fed myself a bottle.

When we got home, I inaugurated my new throne, well, high chair. King Ferdinand, eat your heart out! Despite my regal perch, I was a little apprehensive about what was to come...

...spoonsful and spoonsful of cereal. It wasn't gr-r-reat and I didn't go coo-coo for it, but tomorrow it will be part of my complete breakfast.

Madams, I'm Adams

While in Boston, we celebrated the 75th Anniversary of Adams House, the infamous site where mommy and daddy met a dozen years ago (no, not in the pool!).

At brunch I finally met Winston who grilled many a meal for my parents when they were too picky to eat what was really for dinner (what else is new?). He must have done a good job, since they grew up to be big and strong.

We posed in the dining room with several other former (and future) Adamsians. There were still a lot of familiar faces, and, most impressively, mommy's mural is still in the tunnels.

We ended our visit to Harvard Square with a walk through Oktoberfest with "Uncle" Sean and "Aunt" Meeghan (soon-to-be-parents, themselves). I don't know what was scarier: the goths on stilts or the pumpkin lattes!

Niff-ty Long Weekend

Mommy and daddy took me to Boston this weekend. While I'm still small enough to fit in their luggage, I reasoned with them to let me ride in the carseat instead.

Seeing BoMa and BoPa was wonderful. I worked really hard to keep them entertained by smiling, knocking over blocks, and crawling around while they sang songs and clapped to amuse themselves.

Dearest "Aunt" Niffer came all the way from Yorkshire to see me...which is a long trip for a lady expecting a little boy in eight short weeks.

I finally got to meet "Uncle" Matthew and Arthur, who has so much to teach me including how to distinguish a front-loader from a dump truck.

We went to Cabot's for ice cream sundaes and then played at Cabot playground. Next time we get together I'm getting the Great Pyramid (sixty pints!) and pushing daddy on the swings!
